About Tina

Artist Statement

My artistic practice is characterized by an experimental approach to materials. I use materials from nature like leaves, bark and roots, industrial products such as steel wire and concrete and classic sculpture materials as clay, plaster and bronze. I examine the materials’ intrinsic meanings and distort or add new layers of meaning through different ways of modelling and combinations with other materials. I investigate the materials for their potentials of sculpturing.

My sculptures and installations are always about human relations; relations between humans, relations between humans and systems and relations between humans and nature. My works are based on a humanistic approach to human life, its dilemmas and complexity. A concern. I am often inspired by actual historical small and large scale events, but in the process the idea and work often develops into a more general reflection upon and statement about the topic that at first caught my interest. In my sculptures and installations, I use the layers of meaning in the materials and specific ways of modelling to create statements about human life. My works are quite minimalistic and I aim to create works that appeals to sensitivity before reflection. My sculptures and installations are often both delicate and brutal.

What has been written about me
